BBC Bows to SEO

The BBC news website has decided to make it headlines a bit larger so that they are visible on the search engines. Steve Herrmann, the editor of BBC News Website, “WE estimate that about 29% of BBC News website UK traffic comes from the search engine.” BBC will be allowing its journalists to create two headlines for a story. While the shorter one is between 31 and 33 characters appear on the front page and the longer one up to 55 characters.

He further added, “The practice of ‘search engine optimization’-making content in such a way that it is easily retrieved via search engines- is an important area for us and for others across the globe.”
